FLUMO is barbotine (clay in liquid state) without cooking, which dries in the air acquiring great hardness. It is used with plaster casts by the traditional casting system, achieving a piece of high quality and ceramic resistance. It is a very suitable material for crafts, especially for the world of dolls and miniatures.

In a liquid state, the product can be dyed with any conventional water-soluble pigment or dye. Once dry, it can be colored or varnished with any type of paint or varnish. It can also be polished, carved or perforated.

In accordance with European standard EN-71 and USA regulations (AP seal non-toxic product). It remains unchanged under its original packaging conditions for a minimum period of two years.

What differentiates FLUMO liquid clay?

With regard to conventional clays used with the casting technique (lozas or porcelains), fluMO liquid clay does not need cooking in ceramic oven, as it dries in the air. The piece, once dried, can be colored or varnished.

Preparation of the barbine

  • When opening the container do not discard the most liquid part of the surface. Before use, remove to homogenize the product well, making sure not to incorporate air into the mixture (bubbles).
  • Let stand for a few minutes to encourage the evacuation of bubbles that could damage the finish of the piece.
  • If necessary add only DESTILATED WATER. The addition of running water could modify the rheology (viscosity) of the barbhine.

Filling the mold

  • Use only plaster molds.
  • Before filling, make sure the mold is dry and clean of dust.
  • Pour the product UNINTERRUPTED onto the side of the mold mouth and let it slip inside. This will prevent the formation of bubbles.
  • Wait 10 to 20 minutes before emptying the pan. The waiting time depends on the size of the mold and the desired thickness. If you want a thicker part, let it rest longer and fill the mold when the level drops.

Emptying the mold

  • Lightly tap the pan before emptying. Note that the product increases its fluidity.
  • Empty the pan by letting it drain well.
  • Keep the leftovers covered in its original container for other uses.

Draft

  • Open the pan from 1 hour. Wait longer in case of large parts.
  • Before reusing the mold, clean the product debris and let it dry completely.

drying

  • IT DOESN'T NEED COOKING.
  • Once the part has been removed from the pan, allow to dry at room temperature for 2 to 5 days. It will acquire great hardness and resistance.
  • It is advisable to remove the slices from the mold before the part dry completely.
  • If you want faster DRYING and greater hardness and strength, when removing the part from the mold, place it in a domestic oven between 100 and 120oC for 60 minutes.

Finishing and decoration

  • Once dry, the object can be polished, carved or perforated prior to decoration.
  • The object can be decorated with any type of paint, pencil or pen.
  • It can also be varnished. The use of varnish also ensures greater durability of the object and improves the ease of cleaning.

FLUMO is not waterproof. It is not recommended to make objects that must contain water even if it is protected with a waterproofer.

conservation

  • Once the container is unsealed, close tightly to prevent it from losing water.
  • If necessary add only DESTILATED WATER. The addition of running water could modify the rheology (viscosity) of the barbhine.

Store the product in a cool environment avoiding high temperatures. Do not store at temperatures below 0oC. If the product freezes, it loses its properties.

FAQ's

Can FLUMO liquid clay be used with plastic molds?

FLUMO liquid clay only works with plaster (porous) molds. The traditional casting method is that the mold capillary absorbs water from the barbine, forming a solid wall covering the inner face of the mold. If the mold is not porous, wall formation is not achieved. For this reason, plastic molds or silicones cannot be used.

Can FLUMO liquid clay be dyed?

FluMO liquid clay is white, making it easier to decoration once the piece is finished. However, barbotine can also be dyed en masse using conventional water-soluble dyes or pigments. This technique is especially interesting in reproduction of dolls, thus getting the desired skin tone.

What are the advantages of FLUMO liquid clay over conventional laundry or porcelain?

The main advantage of FLUMO over a snout or porcelain is that it DOES NOT NEED COOKING. In this way, significant energy savings are achieved in the realization of the piece and the large investment in the purchase of a ceramic furnace is avoided. FLUMO is an ideal product to use by any user who does not have a ceramic workshop.
