Ferpol 1973 belongs to a new generation of application-specific resins. In this case it is a transparent polyester designed for the realization of occlusions and to imitate glass figures.
Like the rest of the polyester resins the catalysing system depends on the working conditions such as humidity, and above all temperature, assicome of the amount of resin we are using for each piece.
In principle, working at a temperature of about 20oC, for a piece of 200gr. a percentage of F11 Catalyst of 1% would be required while in the same example and with a resin amount of 1 kg. it would be sufficient with 0.5% F11 Catalyst.
To facilitate your work and whenever you make the mixtures taking proportions in volume, you should take into account that 1 kg of Ferpol 1973 equals about 820 cc.
To avoid the appearance of bubbles as much as possible, we recommend that you have the resin at rest a few minutes after the catalyst is incorporated and before pouring the mixture into the mold.
If we work with large volumes we can avoid erroneous responses of the product, such as internal cracking or yellowing due to excess temperature, performing the pieces in layers, letting each layer cool. In this case we should know that because of the shrinkage difference and especially if the part has a vertical side, the different castings can be visible so that we will need a subsequent sanding of the parts.
If we work encapsulating objects inside the resin, as is the case with orgonites, we must pour a first layer and wait for it to gel to the point where the object does not go to the bottom, then we will continue to fill the mold until its entirety.
You should know that since it is a colorless resin in which certain compounds that would alter the final color do not intervene, the piece may be biting to the touch, especially on the surface of contact with the air. We will avoid the effect by cleaning the outer layer with our AC Solvent and desbating the piece with water sandpaper from more to less thick, after which we must polish with a polishing disc and a dremel or polisher and a polishing paste until the total shine is recovered. It is advisable to leave the piece at rest for a few days or even an oven curing at about 40oC to improve the effect and before polishing.
This effect is also minimized if we use glass molds such as duralex or plastic, in this case we advise you to use a release agent such as Releasil to avoid adhesions.
