AXSON F40 Now Sika Biresin F40 is an incredibly strong and accurate polyurethane resin. It is perfect for making rigid two-part molds and then straining silicone. It also works very well as backing material to a first layer of epoxy. It can be poured up to a maximum of 10cm. per layer or it can also be thickened with AT-2 Silica Gel to apply to brush or brush on vertical surfaces.

It sneaks perfectly, filling in all the gaps and is easy to make in large batches, which makes it very economical when making block molds. Loads can be added to increase volume, such as our Aluminum Powder, allowing the resin to continue flowing while loading up to 100% by volume, which makes it very economical.

When used as a backing material for Epoxy resin layers, it is advisable to create a mechanical bond between the two materials. A good trick is to use regular fiberglass strands embedded in the epoxy layer to give it something to grab the AXON F40,as the two materials will not chemically join. The great advantage of using F40 over an epoxy casting resin is that an epoxy resin will usually have a very slow healing in large blocks, thus saving time and not losing resistance.

AXSON F40 can be unmoulded in 1hour, providing you with a much faster response time while maintaining strength and accuracy. You have about 6 minutes of working time, but it works slowly, so it goes through a pleasant process of gradual hardening (unlike the instant curing you get with fast molding resins) that makes it very easy to use brush molds or countermoulds.

AXSON F40 is the resin used by FX artists throughout Europe for years, so this product already has an excellent track record.

AXSON F40 has a mixing ratio of 100A:20B

RECOMMENDATION: Before use, it is necessary to remove part A (polyol) until it obtains a homogeneous color and appearance (SEE VIDEO BELOW). The two parts (polyol and isocyanate) must be mixed at a temperature equal to or greater than 18oC, depending on the mixing ratio indicated in the data sheet. Before casting, parts or molds must be completely dry.
