Smith's Prosthetics Deadener is the original and best deadener for creating gel prosthetic applications. Varying the amount of deadener added to PlatSil Gel silicone can obtain different degrees of softness.
A basic rule of law would be to add 50% by weight to a mixture of PlaSil A+B, this means a Combination Deadener+PART A+PART B 1:1:1.
Always add the Deadener to Part A, before mixing with Part B
To achieve the effect of a skin for an animatronic, for example, 100% of Deadener would be added. For a prosthetic application (encapsulated silicone) it would take between 180%-200%.
When the Deadener is added the silicone loses its consistency and the material becomes sticky to the touch. In order to create a prosthetic application it is necessary to encapsulate the silicone mixed with the deadener, this is achieved by applying a thin layer of the resulting slicone gel in a mold that has previously been coated with a Bald Cap such as the Key-Cap Plastic.
